Hello Everyone. Exciting news! I've been working away on a new music project called "The Vapour Theory". I'm really excited about the way it's coming together and we're projecting a launch date of March 2012. The songs have a different sound to the "Simeon" stuff -- a uniqueness I'm enjoying! If you want to "keep in the loop" as it develops, 'like' the new Facebook page I've put up: http://www.facebook.com/thevapourtheory. A stack of songs have been written, pre-production has commenced and plans for Australia-wide and South East Asia tours are currently being looked at. I know a lot of you are still keen to get your hands on an acoustic album of Simeon songs. There are still plans to release one. In fact, it's half recorded! I'm just not sure of timing due to the amount of effort and resources that are to be invested in "The Vapour Theory". Time has also been a little short, as I've been investing in four local Melbourne artists, working on their songs in my studio. Thank you for checking out this latest news... more to come soon!

Happy New Year everyone! Unfortunately the year has not started well for a lot of Australians. As a lot of you will be aware (especially the Aussies), a huge percentage of Eastern Australia has been flooded over the last couple of weeks. Thousands and thousands of people have lost most of their possions and tragically some have even lost their lives. The worst hit state so far is Queensland.
I was approached late last week about being involed in benefit concert that will be held this Friday (January 21). This music event is an effort to pull together funds for the 'Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal' and to simply let the people of Queensland know that we are thinking of, and praying for them. If you live in Melbourne, please come along (and bring some cash) to this event and show your support to our brothers and sisters in Queensland. Concert features: Compliments of Gus, Simeon, Jesse Mitchell, Dave Powys (San Salvador) and Levi McGrath with special guests Where: Diamond Valley Baptist Church (309 Diamond Creek Rd. Plenty) When: Friday 21st January 2011 Time: 7:00pm See you there!! |

Once again too much time has passed since I last wrote, but Pete and I certainly haven’t been idle. In May we did our first Asian tour visiting Singapore. With such an encouraging response to our music, we (and the Management Team) thought it best to try and get back before the end of the year! So in October we returned; not only to Singapore but also visiting Malaysia for the first time. We had a blast! We met and played for an unbelievable amount of amazing people, ate some great food, experienced some fantastic (and some very dodgy) accommodation, sold out of CDs and bought some cheap RAM for my laptop. We are starting to look at the calendar for 2011 and hope to be back before June!
I’m currently putting down this “news item” from a café in Shepparton, Victoria. We’ve played three shows so far on this weekend “mini tour” and have one more tonight before heading home to Melbourne. Again, it has been humbling to meet some incredible people. To be able to play our music for a living is a huge blessing; but to be able meet and hear the stories of so many people from different backgrounds/experiences is mind blowing!
Meanwhile our acoustic album is crawling along. I’m still hoping we will have it mixed and “out there” in early 2010. If you are a praying-type-person, please think of us as we try to pull this project together in between the business of touring and management type stuff.
I’ve also been doing a bit of song writing on the road – aiming for that next album (2011). I’m excited about some of the songs that are developing and can’t wait to play them for some of you and see what you think! The ultimate result for me is when you can relate to what I’m writing and when it moves you in some way… so I’m really hoping this next album is going to “connect”!
Thanks to all of you who have written encouraging emails, facebook messages, etc in the last few months! You’d be amazed at how often these notes reach us with perfect timing. Being on the road so much is an adventure, but at times it’s also a challenge being away from friends, family and loved ones. We appreciate you!
Till next time… Sim
